I also was surprised today when I learned that for a city that is constantly crowded with tourists they take their pausa pranzo (lunch break) very seriously. From about 12:00pm to 2:30pm every church is closed. From 2:30pm to 5:00pm every restaurant is closed. It's crazy! For a girl coming from the 24- hour city of Las Vegas its hard to imagine being closed in the middle of the day!
Here are some of the sites we saw today...
The Trevi Fountain and the 100s of tourists |
making a wish! |
The cutest old couple trying to stay dry in the middle of a rain storm. |
The first church we visited. |
Don't know what this is called, but it was massive! |
The inside of the Basilica d'Maria in Araceoli |
/ |
I offered up a prayer for all of you today! May our Blessed Mother watch over and protect you. |
First Gelato in Roma! |
/ |
Tiramisu Gelato. Delicious! And is that the papal seal on the cone? |
That's all for now... Till we meet again, Ciao!
Michela
